Polo G has had one focus on his mind as of late: Self-betterment. A main theme for his new album HOOD POET (released Aug. 9), the Chicago rapper is taking things back to his roots, signifying a revitalized era as the HOOD POET he’s always known himself to be. Calm, cool and collected, Polo compares the energy and attentiveness of his latest effort to cult classics like THE GOAT.
Linking up with Southside and 808 Mafia, Polo has gained a greater sense of clarity and musical ethos nowadays — crafting perhaps his best and most complete record of his career. In the midst of its rollout, Polo G discussed the inspirations behind HOOD POET with OGM host Hakeem Rowe, as well as his sobriety, how Juice WRLD taught him how to tap into his “inner rockstar,” his personal Chicago Rap Mount Rushmore and much more in our latest OGM interview.
