Shordie Shordie seems to have a “Specific” taste in collaborators, linking up with one of hip-hop’s favorite newcomers Blxst on their melodic new single.
“Specific” is the latest track in Shordie’s rollout for his upcoming project, Captain Hook 2, as the Baltimore-based rapper and his enigmatic counterpart mesh their sounds perfectly over the track’s sultry guitar licks and reggae undertones.
Blxst has had a busy year after appearing on the 2021 XXL Freshman List. While known for his high quality crooning and quick-witted bars, his latest feature run has included the likes of YG, Mozzy, Drakeo the Ruler and Russ, as well as a collaborative mixtape with Bino Rideaux.
Shordie’s come-up is coupled with a plethora of singles and freestyles. Recently dropping “Under 51 Seconds” — a three-in-one freestyle over “Crocodile Teeth” by Skillibeng, “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” by Drake and “You’re Mines Still” by Yung Bleu — was exclusively released on YouTube, suggesting that these remixes are a couple of loosies before his upcoming project emerges.
Earlier this year, Murda Beatz joined Shordie Shordie for a full collaborative album titled Memory Lane. The project is packed with somber instrumentals, heartfelt melodies and catchy flows that seamlessly illustrates Shordie’s artistic appeal. Recruiting Trippie Redd on “LOVE” — one of its marquee tracks — allowed Shordie to bolster his image with a powerful co-sign from one of new wave’s most beloved artists.
With more to prove in 2021, Shordie Shordie looks to double down on his momentum, and following “Specific,” expect Shoride to “Blxst” off higher as the year goes on.
