Sports and hip-hop have seamlessly gone hand-in-hand for decades. Sports figures like Damien Lillard, the 1985 Chicago Bears and even the great Kobe Bryant all have dabbled in making music at one point.
The latest edition to the list: Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard. Looking to expand his business ventures by curating an album of his own, his project Culture Jam’s inception has brought forth Polo G and Gunna for another single.
Polo has been having a fantastic run this year, with the release of his third studio album Hall of Fame and a plethora of big guest appearances. His love for basketball has been a long-standing theme of his life. According to an interview with Pitchfork, his original aspirations were to be a sports broadcaster.
Gunna has had an equally fruitful 2021, with a prominent role on Slime Language 2 and multiple big singles. His most recent feature on “His & Hers” by Internet Money with Lil Uzi Vert and Don Toliver has allowed Gunna to continue his successful streak of guest spots.
Kawhi’s collaboration with Polo and Gunna marks the second single off of Kawhi’s curation — the other being YoungBoy and Rod Wave’s collab “Everything Different.” Look forward to more head-to-bead match-ups on the forthcoming full-length release.
