D Savage wows with new album ‘Bulletproof Love’

New wave enigma D Savage has always been one for pushing the envelope. Previously collaborating with Yung Bans, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and more, he continues to bolster his underground legacy as he finally returns with his first full-length project in two years, BPL.

D Savage locked in with his peers on BPL, recruiting Lil Gnar, Matt Ox, K Suave, Tony Shhnow and Trippie Redd for his latest 15-track effort. OGM host Hakeem Rowe had the opportunity to catch up with D Savage in August to speak on his albun Bulletproof Love (BPL), his musical inspirations, why he doesn’t consider himself to be just a “rapper” and so much more.

Almost a year ago, D released the project’s lead single “IDC” with Trippie Redd which was met with massive praise from fans. The mellow track highlights the duo’s ethereal vocals flowing over a guitar-driven beat, as both Trippie and D flex their vocal presence on their high-quality collab. As for BPL, it’s filled with euphoric synth progressions and emotionally-inspired melodies that pushes D Savage to the forefront of the underground once more.

On tracks like “Stay Alert,” “Feel Important” and “Don’t Go,” D Savage displays an intrinsic knack for genre-bending — combining elements of emo-rap, rage and pluggnb that’s taking over the new wave as of late. With contemplative guitar melodies, cadences reminiscent of the late-Juice WRLD and vocal inflections similar to that of Internet Money sensation Lil Tecca, D Savage asserts himself as one of the most underrated up-and-comersputting together a cohesive, emotional escapade into his innermost thoughts and feelings.

Two months prior to BPL’s release, D Savage dropped visuals for the track “Don’t U Change” featuring appearances from Tyler, the Creator, videographer Chris Long, Sunny 2point0 and more.

As D Savage continues to go up, there’s nothing fans can do than just watch and appreciate Savage’s rise to stardom.
