Don Toliver steals the show on new single ‘BANDIT’

Don Toliver is back like a “BANDIT” — stealing the show with his latest single and visual.

As his first solo effort since Love Sick in February 2023, the Cactus Jack superstar goes off-roading with a Biker gang in the desert on “BANDIT” (Feb. 1), turning up with his presumed collective “HardStone” in a low-lit dusty trap.

The track itself is yet another example of Toliver’s evolution in the spotlight. Expertly sampling Tame Impala’s “One More Hour,” Don previewed this track during performances in Chicago, Brussels, London and more over the past year. “Psycho bandit, like it’s Marilyn Manson / Got the cash, advance it, Get the Sprite enhance it,” he tears off on the hook, pulling listeners in to his new era as HardStone’s badass biker chief.

Along with a new album in the works, Toliver and longtime girlfriend Kali Uchis announced that they are expecting their first child in an Instagram post last month. “BANDIT’s” initial post refers to Don by a handful of nicknames (HardStone President, Psycho Superintendent, Cozy Cowboy), alluding to his next full-length effort. Fans were quick to notice the Tame sample in the comments, calling for Toliver to receive “song of the year” honors just a month into 2024.

Toliver’s fourth studio album could very well be the best he’s yet to offer. For now, though, it seems that Donny is on the run as Hardstone’s “BANDIT.”
