It seems that with each new release, bonafide rockstar Iann Dior continues to level up.
His 2020 collaborations with 24kGoldn and Lil Baby were career-elevating moments, now linking with hip-hop’s beloved rager Lil Uzi Vert for his new single “V12.”
“V12” sees Iann open the track with a spirited performance on the bridge, hook and first verse over the rhythmic claps of the beat produced by Cxdy, Internet Money‘s Taz Taylor and elite hitmaker Nick Mira.
Iann pays homage to song’s feature with bars about being dressed in Rick Owens like Uzi, as well as smoothly singing about his luxury cars.
Drop it low (Oh-woah), Aventador (Yeah-yeah)
I could put you on the things that you ain’t seen before
I’m lookin’ like a pot of gold (Oh), with some Forgio’s (Uh-huh)
It goes zero to a hundred when I hit the floor (When I hit the floor)“V12” — Iann Dior featuring Lil Uzi Vert
Lil Uzi Vert handles his portion of the track like a veteran, with a quaint but impactful verse about his authenticity and reckless spending habits.
Ha-ha, ha, don’t forget who did this shit first, yeah-yeah (Yeah)
I’ma be this way ’til in a hearse, yeah-yeah (Yeah)
And I don’t care if your own feelings hurt, yeah-yeah (Yeah)
‘Cause I know I’m the one that did it first, yeah-yeah (Woah)
Put you on that jet, bought you a purse, yeah-yeah (Yes)
I ain’t mean to flex, just like to splurge, yeah-yeah“V12” — Iann Dior featuring Lil Uzi Vert
“V12” first debuted on “The Zane Lowe Show” on Apple Music Sept. 14, as Lowe emphasized how far Iann has come in the industry during the interview.
The song’s music video shows Iann and Uzi dancing and feeding off each other’s energy in front a screen backdrop with continuously changing colors and patterns. The chemistry between the duo in the visual and on the track are undeniable.
Fans have been waiting for “V12” for weeks, as Iann first teased it on Instagram in late August, around the same time he confirmed his upcoming album On To Better Things was at the mixing and mastering stage.
It would be fair to assume “V12” is the lead single for the project, although there is no official tracklist, cover art, or release date.
