Jasiah links with Travis Barker for rock-rap banger “RIGHT NOW”

For the underground’s resident rap-rocker Jasiah, a Travis Barker collaboration just feels natural at this point.

Previously linking with the blink-182 drummer in 2019 on his debut album Jasiah I Am, Jasiah further develops his edgy, punk-infused sound with his latest effort “RIGHT NOW.”

As Barker has compiled a laundry list of joint projects in hip-hop — working with Trippie Redd, Iann Dior, UnoTheActivist, MGK, Kenny Hoopla and others — his influence has bolstered a revitalized pop-punk sound within the new wave.

Enter Jasiah, a screamo-inspired rapper who’s also not afraid to take the edge off. With tracks in “When I’m Gone” and “Fdd,” the Dayton, Ohio native has drawn comparisons to the late XXXTENTACION, however, Jasiah’s sound is all his own — curating a rage-induced coma that ignites moshpits the second the beat drops.

His recent 7-track EP War pushed the envelope of his rap-rock persona, while 2021 standouts in “Art of War” (feat. Denzel Curry and Rico Nasty) and “WORLDSTAR” allowed him to double down on rage music’s current wave.

On “RIGHT NOW,” Jasiah and Barker are a perfect tandem, as the 24-year-old artist crafts a catchy pop-punk cut fit for any setting. With Barker on the drums, the instrumental switches back-and-forth between a live drum-set to trap-infused percussion patterns.

Keeping things simple lyrically, “RIGHT NOW” sees Jasiah questioning his inner thoughts and the demons that plague him. Striving to break free, Jasiah’s subtle screamo-singing and raw vocal inflections just make listeners want to sing along.

I was losing myself tryna save you

You still made me wanna hate you

What’s in my head? Is this a breakthrough?

What’s in my head? Is this a breakthrough?

Alert, alert, fuck, my head hurts

still ’cause I’m always feelin’ stuck

I can’t do this shit with you, I’ma end up with a curse

I’ma end up in a hearse, but we all end up in the dirt, so

Jasiah — “Right Now”

With catchy cadences and immersive melodies, there’s no telling what the rising Jack-of-all-trades is capable of creating, as Jasiah’s apparent versatility shines brighter than ever on “RIGHT NOW.”
