Rising Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan is as bombastic as ever on his latest single “Red Flag.”
While the 23-year-old artist has faced adversity stemming from his arrest in September, he’s on the road back — looking to build upon his 2021 accomplishments. After dropping his 13-track album, 23 Is Back, in June, Jay went on a single streak over the summer — soon sharing “First Day Out (LLC Freestyle)” following his release from prison on Sept. 20.

Although “Red Flag” runs short at 1:30, the track is full of energetic force and aggression. Jay exudes both passion and hostility in his voice, as he raps about the streets and the success that follows him. The production features a unique hand-clap sound effect that enters the track right before the beat drops — making it easy for fans to immerse themselves in Jay’s street-centric world.
In its accompanying visual, JayDaYoungan teamed up with his right-hand man in director 9Films. Together, the two curated fitting visuals that match the tone and blazing pace of the “Red Flag.” We find Jay in a variety of places chopping it up with his crew, as they wave red bandanas and flags with pride. 9Films’ quick cuts, flashing lights and sharp effects add plenty of flair to the video.
