While YZY Sound’s rising star KayCyy is taking his time perfecting his debut album Who Is KayCyy?, he left fans a little taste of what’s to come on Friday (March 11).
Dropping his new 3-track EP, TW20 50, with renowned French producer Gaseffelstein — who handled production on The Weeknd’s 2017 EP My Dear Melancholy — KayCyy is still hard at work putting together all the pieces to make Who Is KayCyy? as spotless as it can be.

While TW20 50 is an appetizer for KayCyy’s main course, the EP contains the album’s lead single “Okay!” as well as the highly teased “The Sun” and new offering “Love & Hate.” Dropping the visual to “The Sun,” KayCyy continues to shoot the movie he’s set out to star and direct in — immersing fans into his refreshing soundscape and cinematic atmosphere.
While KayCyy is still adding the finishing touches to his highly-anticipated debut, he spoke with Our Generation Music about what fans can expect when it does finally arrive.
[“Who is KayCyy?] is important. It’s like when Kendrick Lamar came out with GOOD Kid, m.A.A.d City or Travis Scott with Rodeo, you know? It’s that first album that really matters. To me, operating at the level that I am at right now, the stuff I’m making I think is going to be crazy, and I have a strong feeling about that.”

“The Sun” is the only track that features percussion of any kind, as KayCyy floats over the drumless “Love & Hate” and “Okay!” effortlessly — illiciting an ethereal awakening of sorts over the EP. The Kenya-born crooner continues to craft a sound that’s not only otherworldly, but innovative and genuinely different than any other artist out right now — letting his voice carry him to greater heights.
As KayCyy continues to go up, so will his recognition as one of the new wave’s most gifted talents.
