In the four years since Lil Peep’s passing, music from the late emo-rap pioneer is still coming to the surface.
Legendary producer Harry Fraud — who’s worked with rap stars Benny The Butcher, Curren$y and more — dropped off HIGH FASHION, a three-track EP that showcases Lil Peep exhibiting a new style unheard by fans.
Peep was essential to the rise of SoundCloud era — known for his laidback delivery over grunge style beats that highlighted with trap percussion. Fraud’s signature sound is very different, using ethereal synths and brass sounds to create a jazzy atmosphere on tracks. However, the pair manages to create a smooth, melodic and atmospheric project for all types of listeners to enjoy.
Despite his unfortunate demise in 2017, music from Lil Peep has been abundant in 2021. Lil Tracy released two EPs with the SoundCloud legend, castles and CASTLES II. Most recently, producer-rapper Horse Head dropped a single featuring Peep titled “right here” in mid-November.
Fans are sure to receive at least a few more tracks from Peep’s estate as we roll into 2022. It will be interesting to see what unreleased collaborations surface as Peep and Fraud’s project seems to be only a taste of what’s to come.
