Lil Yachty switches it up with new love song ‘Love Music’

Lil Boat continues his busy past year by experimenting on new single.

Lil Yachty dropped the follow-up deluxe version of his May 2020 album Lil Boat 3 in November. Lil Boat 3.5 added eight new songs to the tracklist including features from Future, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, Vince Staples, Cochise and Oliver Tree.

He would not wait long to release another project, dropping Michigan Boy Boat five months later in April. The mixtape pays homage to Yachty’s home state by featuring a litany of under-the-radar Michigan rappers such as Sada Baby, Baby Tron, Babyface Ray and others.

It seems Yachty has still been in the lab since then. He took to Twitter yesterday, June 28, to announce that he would be dropping a love song today.

“Love Music” released midday today, and peels back a new layer of Lil Yachty. The song opens with a slow, emotional guitar entrance and soon sees a drum beat kick in with auto-tuned Yachty softy singing his romantic hook.

All I, all I ever heard was good things (Oh, yeah)

Good things about you and your ways (Ooh)

All I ever do is think of you (Yeah, yeah)

Think of you and me holding hands

“Love Music” — Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty tweeted today that he used this track to test the waters and see if his fans would appreciate his more melodic side.

The cute, groovy track reveals a great deal of Juice WRLD influence, but successfully adds versatility to Lil Yachty’s bag. Songs that Yachty has done to establish precedence for this song are “Faking It” by Calvin Harris with Kehlani and “Movin’ Up” with Ty Dolla $ign from Quality Control‘s collaborative album Quality Control: Control the Streets, Vol. 1.
