2021 has been a breakthrough year for North Carolina native Morray.
Riding the wave of momentum his 2020 single “Quicksand” brought him, Morray has released a full-length project, collaborated with Polo G and landed himself on J. Cole’s The Off-Season album and tour all in a matter of months.
Morray and Cole’s collab “m y . l i f e” featuring 21 Savage, who also is included on the tour, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, helping to make Morray a household name.
In the midst of opening for a hip-hop legend on “The Off-Season Tour,” Morray dropped his brand new track “Bad Situations” on Sept. 24, continuing to prove his relevance in the soulful rap lane he has occupied since his come-up.
Lasting just under three minutes, “Bad Situations” opens with Morray’s wonderfully sung melancholic hook, helping to bring the beat in. The first verse that follows shows Morray flexing his current financial situation since his difficult prior lifestyle.
Gettin ‘money I’m talking ’bout all the profits
Money fall out the wallet, they know when a n**** got it
I’m gettin’ big bread, your bitch givin’ me big head
Full belly, fuck hunger, a n**** gon’ stay fed
Big dreams and visions, I gotta stay ahead
“Bad Situations” — Morray
While Morray has always had a polished skill for rapping, the passion exhibited in the bars of “Bad Situations” is some of the most powerful work we’ve ever seen from him.
The song’s video follows the story of a man similar to Morray, facing dire straits and grinding to better his family’s life.
Morray’s status in the rap game and ability to craft meaningful music only continues to grow as time goes on.
