Post Malone releases single, Lyrical Lemonade visual for ‘Motley Crew’

After rumors of two new Post Malone projects were said to be in the works, the Austin-native is back in his rap bag — linking up with Lyrical Lemonade and NASCAR for “Motley Crew.”

With appearances from Big Sean, Tyga, French Montana and others, the song and the visual perfectly align with Malone’s comeback tour, as Posty prepares to shine brighter this time around.

Post Malone has been unusually quiet since the start of the pandemic.

Releasing his third consecutive blockbuster album in Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019), Malone’s ascent as one of the biggest pop stars on the planet came with him hitting the brakes at the height of his stardom.

Despite his hiatus, he hasn’t stayed completely silent in that time. Releasing the trap-infused “Wow” in 2019, and appearing on the heavily remixed Tyla Yahweh cut “Tommy Lee” in 2020, Malone recently performed a rendition of Hootie & The Blowfish‘s “Only Wanna Be With You” at the Pókemon 25 virtual concert in February. He also lended a verse to the late Juice WRLD’s remix of “Life’s A Mess” with Clever a month later.

These scattered releases only proved that Posty seemed to shift his focus on his brand, partnering with Monster Energy, Crocs and hosting his own celebrity beer pong tournament without releasing any music.

Amid his recent business ventures, Malone’s manager and partner Dre London took to Instagram in April saying that the Texas-based pop star is preparing to release two new albums this year.

With two new Posty projects in the works, London announced the first single from Malone in over a year would be “Motley Crew” — an homage to legendary heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Malone will also have an accompanying visual from Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett for the track — as rappers in Big Sean, Tyga and others were seen in the video’s teaser.

Crüe’s drummer and founding member Tommy Lee previously showed praise to Posty via his Instagram story, as London further teased the song with a clip from the video shoot Sunday.

“Motley Crew” will release on DSPs this Friday (July 9), as Post Malone is poised for a calculated comeback long overdue.
