Like the idols in its title, Rich Amiri’s latest effort “MADONNA & RIHANNA” not only continues the mainstream motion of “One Call,” but asserts his star power is here to stay.
The new track, released on Friday (April 5), is yet another high-velocity banger cut from Amiri’s affinity for bombastic, distorted new wave sounds. “You would’ve thought it was NASCAR the way I was swerving the Coupe,” he sing-raps with his now-signature auto-tuned drawl, backed by pulsating synths and heavy production from Internet Money’s Rio Levya and Taz Taylor. Its hook is sticky enough to stay stuck in your head for days: “Bad lil’ white heart look like Madonna / Black heart look like Rihanna.”
Rich Amiri has experienced an ascension like no other this past year. “ONE CALL” became his undisputed breakout hit, which achieved his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 debut. Since the release of albums in EVOLUTION and GHETTO FABULOUS, the Boston native has built his brand on his way to becoming a household name.
Pinged as a rising rapper to watch by OGM, Complex and others, it’s safe to say “MADONNA & RIHANNA” is one of many victory laps Amiri looks to take this year — especially with tour (featuring Jaydes) right around the corner.
