Tems sizzles on new EP ‘If Orange Was A Place’

After linking up with Wizkid and Justin Bieber earlier this summer, Tems is on a hot streak she’ll never forget.

While the budding Nigerian star continues to make waves in the States, her captivating, sultry vocals have not only turned the heads of Drake and OVO, but mainstream listeners as well, dropping her second EP, If Orange Was A Place (Sept. 14).

Featured on “Fountains” off Drake’s mammoth project Certified Lover Boy — which has completely commandeered the Billboard Hot 100 this week — Tems is a unique voice still relatively unheard by most.

With a warm and rhythmic presence over any track she touches, the singer’s debut EP, For Broken Ears, initially sparked her career before WizKid came calling. She soon appeared on WizKid’s Made In Lagos single, “Essence,” which earned a remix with Justin Bieber after its initial release.

If Orange Was A Place not only reintroduces Tems to the Drake-assisted crowd, but also sees her flourish as a vocalist that fully immerses herself in the groove, the melody and the moment all at once. The five-track record includes its previously released single “Crazy Tings,” also finding a feature from Brent Faiyaz on “Found.”
