Prison apparently can’t stop YNW Melly from dropping music for his loyal fanbase.
Melvin has managed to stay relevant throughout 2021 despite his current incarceration for first-degree murder. Although he has been locked up since February 2019, he’s still been able to score major placements such as Lil Durk on “Banana Split” and Young Thug on SL2.
He also just appeared alongside 100K Track, Ar’mon and Trey on “No Love” last week. Fans are sure to expect more music after this single, as Melly awaits for a court hearing, determining the future of his incarceration.
“Pieces” features the sultry vocals of Queen Naija, as her and Melly croon about a lost love. Melly sings about a girl who he had hoped would hold it down, taking a page out of The Script’s book when he sings, “when a heart breaks no it don’t break even”.
Naija hops on the track with her angelic voice as she scolds a past lover for ruining their relationship for no reason. She is also fresh off the heels of a guest spot with Jacquees, so hopefully we get some solo material from her soon.
As Melly continues to release music behind bars, here’s hoping fans see more activity from the Florida-based rapper on the outside.
