YSL’s Yung Kayo releases debut project ‘Down For The Kount’

While YSL star-in-the-making Yung Kayo’s new album is out, he isn’t DOWN FOR THE KOUNT.

With features from Gunna, Yeat and Eartheater, the 15-track album is a comprehensive look into the newcomer’s soundscape filled with euphoric rage-synths and fast-spitting bars from the 18-year-old enigma.

Since signing to Young Thug’s imprint Young Stoner Life, the rising teen phenom has proven time and time again that his versatility knows no bounds. His first full-length project presents a variety of instrumentals that allow Kayo to showcase his many vocal styles throughout — showcasing his refined sonic diversity on any track he touches.

“Do you like it when I write back?

I’m at IPIC, where the ice at?

Spyin’ on you in a Cayenne (Let’s go)

I got lot of tools, know where I’m at (Let’s go)

Yeah, you know where I’m at

Pull up with a dime, ha

Told my neck to calm down

With the gang, we out now”

Yung Kayo — “iPic”

From the melodic banger “iPic” to the inspirational anthem “it’s a Monday,” Kayo doesn’t only switch up his style often — he does it to his advantage. His go-to producer Warpstr keeps up with Kayo’s seemingly boundless energy and arsenal of deliveries, providing him with everything from beautiful vocal samples to rage synths and booming 808s.

Kayo also recently joined OGM for an interview where he detailed his journey with YSL and the making of his album.

Yung Kayo taps Yeat for ‘YEET’ off debut project ‘Down For The Kount’

YSL signee Yung Kayo is gearing up for his debut, and fans are more than excited to see what the young hit-maker can do.

Teaming up with a few fan favorites on his debut project, new wave superstar Yeat joins Kayo for DOWN FOR THE KOUNT’s final single, appropriately titled “YEET.”

Paying homage to the legendary 2014 meme, “YEET” is a rage-inducing banger with heavy synths and 808s that immediately overtake your speakers. Kayo and Yeat both deliver vicious bars with consistently catchy cadences to complement the booming instrumental, flexing their wealth and designer clothes throughout the track.

I slap on her ass, now she got the inches, I’m pulling her, yeet

I dive and I splash, the gang gets turned up when the diamonds on fleek

She Cartier tag, I’m askin’ the bitch, “Oh, can I get a piece?”

It’s not ’bout the bag, ALYX on my feet, then I hop out the Jeep

Yung Kayo — “YEET”

Fans of Young Thug were put on to Kayo on Slime Language 2 — YSL’s most recent compilation project featuring all members of the stacked label. Appearing on “Proud Of You” with Lil Uzi and Thug as well as “GFU” with Sheck Wes and Yak Gotti, the tape provided Kayo with some of his biggest collaborations to date, bolstering his appeal as a solo act in the new wave.

His previous single in anticipation of the project is “it’s a monday,” an anthemic banger meant to motivate his listeners to turn up on sight.

Yung Kayo is slated to release his first full-length project DOWN FOR THE KOUNT on Feb. 4. Fans can look forward to features from Gunna and producer-singer Eartheater as well as production from Warpstr and Taurus as the YSL up-and-comer ceases to miss.
