Baby Keem approaching release of debut album ‘The Melodic Blue’

20-year-old California rapper gears up for third full-length project.

August was a career-defining month for Baby Keem, as he released his explosive single “family ties” with Kendrick Lamar on Aug. 27 and landed on Kanye West‘s tenth studio album Donda two days later.

Now, as he continues to skyrocket in popularity, Baby Keem now has his debut album in his sights. He tweeted on Aug. 31 that he turned is upcoming album “The Melodic Blue” to his label for distribution.

He also later tweeted that his promotional singles “durag activity” with Travis Scott and “family ties” will be on the album, and that it includes his best production and compositional work to date.

The back-half of 2021 has already started off kindly for Keem, and he now looks to keep the ball rolling with his impending album release.

Baby Keem‘s next phase of his career could be here much sooner than fans think. While his last project, DIE FOR MY BITCH, was released in 2019, the album resonates still — delivering an incredible mix of upbeat, innovative bangers and melodic bops alike. DIE FOR MY BITCH was not only a catalyst for Keem’s ascent into the spotlight, but also paved his way to become one of hip-hop’s brightest young stars.

Since then, Baby Keem has released a total of four songs. In Sept. 2020, he released a two-pack of tracks in “hooligan” and “sons & critics freestyle.” He picks up right where he left off with these two, especially with the aggressive “hooligan,” where the chorus — while simple — brings charisma and energy to the track.

Fah-fah-fah, fah-fah-fah

Hooligans, they on the way

Fah-fah-fah, fah-fah-fah

Had to influence the wave

Fah-fah-fah, fah-fah-fah

Hop in the ship, go to space

Fah-fah-fah, fah-fah

Drive to the crib on the lakes

“hooligan” — Baby Keem

The next two songs, “no sense” from March and “durag activity (feat. Travis Scott)” from April show a more lax, composed Keem similar to that on “HONEST” from DIE FOR MY BITCH.

On April 30, he tweeted that his next project would be titled The Melodic Blue.

It’s not clear what the tracklist of this project will consist of, but neither of his past two full-length projects had any feature verses.

On June 28, Baby Keem took to Instagram to post a snippet of a new track, and the caption read “sorry, The Melodic Blue this summer.” The snippet sees Keem singing an uptempo verse of his distrust of a toxic significant other over creative, lively production.

Baby Keem has established an unreal momentum at the summer’s end, so fans should certainly be excited for “The Melodic Blue”‘s release.
