Pop-rap superstar Doja Cat has seemingly had enough of being in the public eye. As one of the most recognizable artists of our generation, her meteoric rise to fame hasn’t come without backlash of all kinds throughout her career.

However, it’s apparent that Doja is fed up with it all, telling her followers that she “f—king quits” following criticism from Paraguayan fans on social media. Alleged for not fully appreciating their country during her stop in South America this week (March 24), Doja answered a handful of hurtful comments as the situation unfolded, further detailing that, “I dont give a f–k anymore.”

In a slew of tweets, dozens of users tagged the “Kiss Me More” singer to Doja’s surprise, as her set in Paraguay at the Asunciónico festival was canceled earlier this week due to intense flooding before she even made the trip. When fans supposedly began to surround her hotel, looking to take photos with the rapper, she never showed — angering fans because she didn’t post about Paraguay while there.

There was a storm in Paraguay, the show got canceled. When I left the next morning, there wasn’t one person outside the hotel waiting for me. Let that sink in. I regret spending all the time I did getting ready that day for the show I’ve been busting my ass every day to put on for you but god bless.”

On the same day (March 24), she took to Twitter to admit that she didn’t feel like she gave the crowd her all after her first South American show in Brazil earlier this week. To the dismay of fans, the drama seemed to be too much, as Doja changed her Twitter name to “i quit” shortly after.

This isn’t necessarily out of left field though, as Doja went live on Instagram last November divulging her irritations of not having enough time for herself to do what she wants to do, how she feels she hasn’t made music for herself in “years” and spoke on the excessive demands placed upon artists in today’s fast-evolving industry.

Amid her frustrations as of late, the “What U Wanting” remix queen has completely taken over airwaves and dominated Billboard charts in the past two years. Whether it’s her smash-hit “Need To Know” off her latest studio album Planet Her, her summer anthem with SZA “Kiss Me More,” her contributions to Lil Nas X‘s “Scoop,” or her feature with Saweetie on “Best Friend,” Doja continues to kill it despite her presumed hiatus from music.

While Doja may need just a breath of fresh air — seeking clarity from the rigamarole of her work — its still unclear if she is taking some time away from music. However, if she does, here’s hoping she comes back better than ever.
