On March 8, the Recording Industry Association of America awarded Eminem new certifications for 55 different singles and nine different albums. These updates have officially made Eminem the leading artists for RIAA certifications, Gold and Platinum, for singles.
Overall, Tuesday’s ruling gave Eminem 73.5 million certifications for sales, as he now has 227.5 million in total.
Slim Shady now also has six Diamond certifications, which signifies 10 times RIAA Platinum. Three of the six certifications are for albums The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP and Curtain Call: The Hits. He is now one of seven artists with three or more Diamond albums.
When speaking about this honor, RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier emphasized how significant Eminem’s achievements are. “These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last twenty years,” he said. “With today’s announcement, Eminem becomes the top certified singles artist in our program’s history and adds a rare third Diamond Album to his many creative accomplishments. Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever!”
Eminem is a member of Aftermath Entertainment and his very own Shady Records, which are both distributed by Interscope Records. Interscope Vice Chairman Steve Berman also spoke highly of Em while celebrating this RIAA news: “Interscope joins Aftermath in congratulating Marshall, Paul, and the entire Shady team on this remarkable achievement,” he said. “It has been an honor to be part of one of the greatest journeys in the history of recorded music. The most beautiful part of this is it feels like the journey has just begun.”
Congratulations to Eminem on this incredible recognition in a historical moment for hip-hop!
