Don’t sleep on Grade A’s newest hitmaker, Zzz

Lil Bibby and Grade A Productions may have just gone three-for-three with their latest signee, Zzz.

Planting the seeds for Juice WRLD and The Kid LAROI to become generational superstars, Grade A has made a dream come true for the 18-year-old Miami native. In a matter of days, his life has made a complete 180 — going from making music in his dorm room at University of Florida (Gainesville) to riding around in Los Angeles with Bibby and company.

Boasting loose similarities to Juice and LAROI’s emotive, love-torn soundscape, Zzz is truly just at the cusp of what he’ll be able to achieve. Touting just five tracks on SoundCloud — with his most recent “RUNNING AWAY” eclipsing 400,000 plays this week — Grade A’s next hitmaker has already locked in with Internet Money, Taz Taylor, Bakkwoods and Benny Blanco since signing with the powerhouse label.

Additionally, his breakout track “RUNNING AWAY” (March 25) is a true emo-rap anthem, as Zzz pines for the love he feels he deserves but battles the actions that contradict his thoughts. “Running away” from his problems, he lets the music be his medicine, saying “I swear this music is the reason I ain’t strugglin.” — showcasing his refined singing ability over the track’s grunge guitar melodies and growling 808s.

Maybe I’m just getting to my head, that’s why she in my bed

The second I start feelin’ alive, they prolly want me dead

Uh, yeah, that’s just how life goes

‘Cause boy, you’re nothin’ if you ain’t turn into somethin’

I swear this music is the reason I ain’t strugglin’

I take my problems and I turn ’em into somethin’

I’ve been running away

Zzz — “RUNNING AWAY”

In late March, Bibby first listened to Zzz’s “RUNNING AWAY” in an IG live with a few fans. Singing and rapping with a comparable conviction to Juice and LAROI, Zzz was signed to Grade A shortly after the clip was shared on social. Z has also been documenting his journey on TikTok — soaking in the experience wholeheartedly as he adjusts to his newfound lifestyle.

Seen calling his mother to discuss his life-changing situation and sitting down with the renowned Steven Victor in a recent clip, Zzz is set to have everything he needs to succeed — presumably crafting a debut project to formally introduce himself to new listeners.

To preface, Grade A caught The Kid LAROI at just age 13 in Australia, and signed Juice WRLD right before “Lucid Dreams” became one of the most popular tracks of the SoundCloud era.

If there’s anything Lil Bibby can do, it’s spot culture-shifting talent from a mile away — and in Zzz’s case, it seems as though he’s poised to become another beaming voice of our generation.

A conversation with Zzz

“It was really incredible to me. The thing is, literally a year or two back, I was able to play my music personally for DJ Khaled on IG Live. That was more of a recognition of like ‘okay, I can keep doing this.’ So for it to happen again with [Lil Bibby], and have that moment like that where people are really just paying attention to the music. It was kind of abrupt, but when I got on the phone with him, that was a crazy moment. I knew who Grade A was, so for it to happen — with all the work he’s done — was just a crazy experience based on how my life has been the past year.”
