Going 16-for-16 is no small feat, but Lil Tecca achieves this with pure intention and ease on his new album, TEC.
The Internet Money rapper’s third studio album, and fourth full-length project in total, arrived on Friday (Sept. 22) and was instantly met with online praise. Off the back of star-studded features in Kodak Black and Ken Carson as well as production from IM mainstays like Cxdy, Rio Levya and the prolific BNYX (who has had a hand in records for Travis Scott, Drake, Teezo Touchdown, Yeat and more), TEC showcases the 21-year-old emcee’s full power as a new wave pioneer.
Sharing singles in “HVN On Earth,” “Need Me” and “500 LBS” in the album’s build-up, “Fell In Love” with Ken Carson proves to be an instant highlight. The pair linked up on Internet Money’s “She Want Some More” as well as Lil Tecca’s oft-released SoundCloud cut “Patrick Ewing” in 2021. Their chemistry is undeniable, as the duo effortlessly trade verses over distorted 808s and spacey melodies. He also shared the visual to “Dead Or Alive” just days before its release.
This is Lil Tecca’s first album in two years. His 2019 debut mixtape We Love You Tecca, which featured his breakout hit “Ransom” with the late–Juice WRLD, was followed up by previous efforts in Virgo World (2020) and We Love You Tecca 2, taking the latter on a headlining tour featuring Bktherula, Tana and yvngxchris in 2021.
In his full-length absence, Lil Tecca shared a slew of beloved archived cuts such as “Treesha” and “Faster” last year. He appeared alongside Rich Amiri on “Poppin” for the fellow Internet Money signee’s debut album Evolution.
