Maxo Kream pays homage to his idols on ‘Jigga Dame’

When thinking of lyrical rappers who are more than capable of bumping out bangers, Houston emcee Maxo Kream is a name that always belongs in the conversation.

On his new single “Jigga Dame,” Maxo not only gives Jay-Z and Dame Dash their flowers — praising their unmatched business savvy and comparing their success with his hustle — but proves Kream’s tapped potential as a superstar on the rise.

Name dropping everyone from Gucci Mane to J-Lo, Maxo drops metaphor after metaphor to describe his life prior to music, dropping anecdotes about his drug-dealing days. An eerie piano melody switches every 16 bars as the “Big Persona” rapper relentlessly spits stories of his money-making initiative.

“Not a doctor but I pour the wok

In a pineapple Phantom and mix it like Purple Rain

Waka Flocka, I used to spin choppers for dollars

But now I’m upset like I’m Gucci Mane

Broken foot, now they calling me boujee, mane

Gucci, Louis, switch bills like I’m Pootie Tang”

Maxo Kream — “Jigga Dame”

2021 was extremely kind to Maxo with the release of his star-studded album WEIGHT OF THE WORLD garnering appearances from Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, Freddie Gibbs, Don Toliver and more. Since then, fans of his music have been patiently waiting to see what’s next as we approach the middle of 2022.

This single suffices as a fantastic start to what we hope is the beginning of Maxo’s next album rollout. Claiming he’s back in “Trigga Maxo Mode,” the Texas rapper seems just excited as we are for whatever is coming up.
