MVW & Matt Ox — “Check In

Ahead of his upcoming sophomore album Connections, composer-producer MVW is checking into the game with a slew of hip-hop’s budding stars. Off the back of his new single “Check In” with OGM mainstay Matt Ox, the Year Of The Ox rapper frantically spits within MVW’s intricately immersive soundscape — touting a staggered chopped melody as Ox turns in yet another unforgettable, mosh-pitting performance.

“Check In” seemingly expands on MVW’s vision to fuse his classical background with the sounds of contemporary trap — an exercise he first explored on his debut album CLASSIC$ which found him working with superproducer Lex Luger, Valee, Lil Gotit and more. Tapping other talents in Desiigner, Ox, Valee, Gotit, 645AR and more for his impending LP later this year, “Check In” is just a taste of what’s to come for the blossoming sonic savant.

“This track embodies how I’m trying to bring maturity and nuance to this new sound and world. Matt is truly a prodigy and he needs the right canvas to paint on. This was exactly that. It’s as if Three 6 Mafia’s timeless classical sampling techniques were updated by Matt Ox’s new wave flow into a unique and surprising result, with beautiful orchestrations and string arrangements.”
