tophillfreddo is carving out a lane of his own with new single ‘Sacrifices’

Exciting newcomer tophillfreddo is carving out a fresh new lane amongst an increasingly crowded field. His well-developed signature style incorporates powerful original production, energetic melodic delivery, and many of the most compelling aspects of the blossoming Soundcloud underground – all uniquely packaged for widespread consumption.

Freddo’s sound has really come into focus since linking with the ever-talented, Fish – the exclusive producer of his last two projects FAITH and versatile.wav known for his work with Mike Dean, Weiland and BigBabyGucci. His latest single, “Sacrifices” is a great introduction to the dynamic high-energy style they’ve crafted together, opening with an unassuming synth melody before roaring to life with a speaker-blowing bassline as Freddo showcases his full range of abilities.

Seen throughout his work, DMV-born, LA-based Freddo has a knack for blurring the lines between singing and rapping — somehow matching the overwhelming energy of Fish’s room-shaking production with his powerful delivery of densely packed bars and intricate autotune melodies. On “Sacrifices” and some of his other most popular songs like “Angels,” “Bieber” and “Oasis,” fans of the underground will recognize a familiar energetic feel and punchy, abrupt mood switches similar to that of the popular rage and hyperpop subgenres – but attacked in a fresh new way that is less polarizing and more friendly to those outside the underground fold.

A common theme in Freddo’s rise seems to be that he is unusually well-connected behind the scenes, working with top-tier talent at every turn. His compelling original style and full commitment to his craft surely play a major role in developing his network, along with the loyal core fan base he was able to build as a mainstay performer at West Virginia University (after dropping out). Those frequent and raucous early performances were a major confidence builder and provided tangible evidence of Freddo’s nascent starpower.

In addition to his sound, Freddo is just as interesting from a visual standpoint. The same way he’s sought out the best production talent to build his own style, Freddo’s visuals are just as carefully crafted by some of the best emerging talent around in Luca Envy, SrryBari, Kyler Bolomey, Jack Rottier and more. Close friend, manager and occasional cameraman, Peter Hogan, also fills in where needed – producing the “Sacrifices” video and capturing BTS footage for a full-length documentary on Freddo’s rise.

One of his most eye-popping videos is for his biggest song to date “Angels,” directed by underground visual powerhouse nitetive – whose distinct style underground fans will recognize from his work with big names like Yeat, SoFaygo and Ty Fontaine. Uploaded to his own Youtube Channel, nitetive revealed in the comments that Freddo was actually the very first artist he made a music video with almost 3 years ago.

His powerful connections don’t stop there though. Freddo has also already had several brushes with the silver screen – prominently featured on several movie soundtracks, most notably RUSHED, and even landing his first acting gig in an upcoming movie alongside Robert Patrick (Terminator). Additionally, his well-received project FAITH, released earlier this year and containing many of his most popular songs was creative-directed by Glo Gang’s Daisey Delancey – recently praised for her vision on Chief Keef’s album, 4Nem. When he’s not in the studio, Freddo also works as a production assistant for popular streetwear brand, LaRopa – a dual source for both cool connections and a constant supply of new drip.

Freddo meant it when he said on “Sacrifices”: “I just had to make some sacrifices now this sh*t is goin up.” Years of hard work seem to be finally paying off as he begins to gain traction in the underground and fully step into his potential. Already with two projects released this year and fresh off a visit to Majorstage in NYC to debut his new single, 2022 is gearing up to be a breakout year for one of the most promising new acts in tophillfreddo.
