Tory Lanez is back in the mix yet again. After freestyling on popular Twitch streamer Adin Ross’ latest stream, Lanez teams up for a summer anthem with Dababy on “SKAT.”
Their latest effort is doing numbers on streaming — climbing to No. 1 on YouTube’s trending page in just four days.
The instrumental features a haunting trumpet melody, along with heavy drums and booming 808s. Tory Lanez outwardly showcases his rapping chops on “SKAT”, using every flow in his arsenal. He seamlessly goes from rapping to singing and back like it’s natural. Dababy comes in aggressively flexing with his trademark flow and fast-pace cadences.
DaBaby has been on a quite a feature this year, as his guest verses on Polo G’s “Party Lyfe”, Young Thug’s “Litty” and 24kGoldn’s “Coco” all dropped within weeks of each other.
The accompanying video shows Tory Lanez and DaBaby in a plethora of different settings — from the Wild West to NASCAR to Fight Club. The video contains Easter eggs throughout, with allusions to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and other pop culture themes that coincide with scenes that counteract each other.
Regardless of his recent hiatus from his beef with Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, Tory Lanez has been active promoting his album, PLAYBOY, along with collaborating with some of hip-hop’s best in the process.
