DaBaby is back with another single, dropping “Red Light Green Light” yesterday. He released single “Ball If I Want To” last week, where he seemed unbothered while flexing his wealth and promiscuity.
He follows the same blueprint this week with “Red Light Green Light,” while employing a nautical, flute-infused instrumental produced by d.a. got that dope.
DaBaby previewed the song during the day Thursday, June 24, with a teaser for the song’s music video that saw him riding in an old school red convertible, pulling up to a cookout with his crew.
In the music video, DaBaby, rocking a jerry curl hairdo, is on a set that’s theme takes influence from 1990s movie “Boyz n the Hood” starring Ice Cube.
On the song, DaBaby employs a multi-faceted, long-winded hook assuring fellow rappers not to mess with him, or he’ll give his squad the signal to deal with them.
Hop out that bitch, whip that shit on ’em
Pull my dick out, sit me down, and she sit on it (Okay)
Give them niggas a green light, they gon’ get on ’em
Red light, green light (Let’s go)
“Red Light Green Light” — DaBaby
DaBaby is no stranger to these beats that use looped flute melodies. Most notably, songs like “BOP” on his 2019 album KIRK and “Goin Baby” on his 2019 album Baby on Baby from his catalog execute this to perfection, and you can add “Red Light Green Light” to the list.
DaBaby is now dropping music with more frequency, so a project could be on the horizon. In the meantime, stream DaBaby’s fresh single “Red Light Green Light” below.
