Xaviersobased and Nettspend have become the underground’s most tantalizing one-two punch in just a matter of months.
Taking the New York new wave by storm, alongside Surf Gang’s prolific Evilgiane, the trio linked up for their latest single “40” and it’s electric on all fronts. Between the VHS run-and-gun visuals, Giane’s signature Surf Gang swagger and the chemistry between Nettspend and Xavier, “40” is an inkling to the mainstream value both young stars have the potential to achieve in years to come.
The track preceded Xavier’s latest tape Keep It Goin Xav and a fiery performance on Gabe P’s On The Radar Radio. Recently chopping it up with Hakeem Rowe in our OGM Exclusive series, Xaviersobased spoke on his relationship with Nettspend and how the NYC underground has evolved because of their sound. “You can see it in him from the very beginning, [Nettspend] is a star,” Xavier said, as he and Nett have been able to capture the youth by way of raw, emotive melodies and heavily distorted raps that evidently push the boundaries.
Evilgiane’s career-defining year in 2023 continues ever since striking gold with Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem’s “The Hillbillies” this past summer. A foundational member of the Surf Gang collective, Evilgiane’s been behind many of your favorite rappers’ — both underground and mainstream — best hits, including Earl Sweatshirt (“Making The Band Danity Kane”), 454, Matt Ox, Veeze and more.
