“What A Life” it truly is for Big Sean and Hit-Boy.
As the dynamic producer-rapper duo caught fire from their LA Leakers appearance last week (Oct. 20), the two finally dropped their first collaborative EP, What You Expect.
The 6-track project features “Loyal to a Fault,” with Bryson Tiller and Lil Durk, and “Offense” with fellow Detroit natives in Babyface Ray and 42 Dugg. Other tracks include “Chaos,” “Into It,” “The One” as well as “What A Life.” The EP also brought forth two visuals in “What A Life” — where Big Sean can be seen covered head-to-toe in bees — and their latest “Loyal To A Fault.”
Earlier this week, both Big Sean and Hit-Boy hinted at their seemingly inevitable collab effort via social media. Following the EP’s single “What A Life” (Oct. 22), Hit-Boy responded to a Twitter comment on Tuesday, further teasing a project with the Don himself.
Sean seemed more than excited to release new music, saying he was “bout to drop a new song tonight, but then I thought… nah, instead I’m a drop 5 new songs tonight!”

Hit-Boy and Big Sean have always had great rapport, as the award-winning super producer worked with Sean on his Grammy-nominated magnum opus Detroit 2. D2 was the final record apart of Sean’s long-term, 14-year deal with GOOD Music. Now, he’s on to bigger things — doing what he does best all under his own imprint, FF, in partnership with Def Jam.
Hit-Boy has also had his fair share of success this year as well, locking in with Nas for Kings Disease and Kings Disease II — the former winning the legendary rapper a Grammy for Best Rap Album. The duo also boasts a slew of of other singles in “Salute,” “4 Thangs,” “It Ain’t My Fault among many others.
By the way this the first project where I’m on my own label as well, no more lil dawg shit!!!! I bossed up! #DONLIFE
