After being absent from the game for nearly five years, Isaiah Rashad’s fans have finally reaped the benefits of their dedication.
Releasing a handful of promotional singles before dropping his third studio album The House is Burning in late July, the TDE artist continues his flawless 2021 with Homies Begged — the deluxe version of his summertime masterpiece.
The album saw the Tennessee native at his most laid-back, utilizing groovy production and poised rapping to craft a cohesive, tranquil atmosphere. While there are a couple high-energy cuts like “From The Garden” with Lil Uzi Vert and “Lay Wit Ya” with Duke Deuce, The House is Burning primarily aligns with its serene vibe, particularly on the second half of the project.
Since wrapping up his North American tour in mid-October, Zay thought it was appropriate that he gift fans with more music they had waited years for. Zay explained he felt so much love from his fans on tour that he decided to give them more songs he had teased in the past that did not make the album.
Homies Begged contains four added tracks that Rashad has either teased on IG Live or heard live throughout his tour. The new additions include a remix to “RIP Young” with Project Pat and Juicy J, “Deep Blue” with Young Nudy, “Geordan Favors” with Deontae Hitchcock and the finale “Donuts” with UMI.
Fans had some inkling as to what songs the Homies Begged edition could’ve seen. There are several screen recorded videos floating around YouTube of Isaiah’s frequent Instagram Live sessions where he would preview unreleased music. It seems that fans still gravitate towards these snippets, and let Zay know when they got to meet him on tour. Check out some of the most notable ones below.
Fans will finally get to find out if some of Zay’s “loosies” should’ve been on the album to start, as Rashad continues his stellar 2021 with a tasteful refurbish of his newfound classic.
