Justice’s breakout hit “Peaches” — featuring rising R&B stars Daniel Caesar and GIVĒON — debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and for the past ten weeks, has remained on the Hot 100 chart, currently sitting at No. 6.
Before the song begins to fade from listeners’ memory, Bieber decided to enlist some of the industry’s more seasoned artists for a fitting remix. He gathered Atlanta natives in Ludacris and Usher and to supply his Georgia peaches and Cali-legend Snoop Dogg to deliver not only bars, but extra ganja.
I got my peaches out in Georgia (Oh, yeah, shit)
I get my weed from California (That’s that shit)
I took my chick up to the North, yeah (Badass bitch)
I get my light right from the source, yeah (Yeah, that’s it)“Peaches” — Justin Bieber
The remix kicks off with Ludacris’ colorful verse with depictions of fruit, flavor and romance aimed at seduction. Ludacris’ bars coincide tremendously with the motifs of the track, referencing peaches, honeydew, cherries and several other sweet-sounding foods.
This following hook leads into Usher crooning a verse also with topical lyricism such as “she from Atlanta, she smoke, we call that a peach tree.” Usher’s soothing voice rides the upbeat instrumentation wonderfully and he excels at replacing the previous singers listed on the original song.
Snoop Dogg closes out the track with his trademark braggadocios flow that emulates the weed-smoking experience he depicts.
Land of the tree, home is the base (Home is the base)
Kush in my woods, smokin’ with grace (Smokin’ with grace)
Pass it around and give ’em a taste
