midwxst continues hot streak with new single, visual ‘Tic Tac Toe’

Midwxst has been blowing up this year — and for good reason. His knack for genre-bending has not only become a staple in his discography, but has allowed him to exist in a lane all his own.

Linking up with frequent collaborator DotCom Nirvan for the visual to his latest single “Tic Tac Toe,” the 17-year-old Indiana-based rapper proves yet again that he’s one of the most talented artists coming out of the new wave.

Along with glaive, Slump6s and SSGKobe, midwxst thrives off the idiosyncracies found in hyperpop’s glitchy, 8-bit production. However, his flair for effortlessly running flows and spitting bars over these electronic instrumentals defines his originality — catering to both hyperpop and hip-hop fans alike.

While his skillset continues to gleam throughout 2021, midwxst has become notorious for his genreless appeal. On his latest full-length project, Summer03, midwxst teeters from hyperpop, hip-hop, rage-rap and even croons an intimate guitar ballad — showcasing his uniqueness and range over the LP’s 13 minute run-time.

Midwxst wows with new rage banger ‘Made It Back’

“Tic Tac Toe” falls in line with his other 2021 singles in “Ruthless” and “Made It Back” — dipping more into a rage-rap lane than hardcore hyper. With colorful 808s and video game synth sequences, wxst does what he does best: spits. He raps possessing a natural skill as he seamlessly blends his bars with melodic cadences, making yet another enjoyable new wave banger.

Playin’ my opps like tic tac toe

If I really wanted to, I could steal your hoe

My head on a swivel, I stay on my toes

Don’t wanna text you, I’m finna go ghost

Doin’ too much, bitch you doin’ the most

When I get me a deal, I’m finna have a toast

Go to Chicago, I feel like D Rose

You know that I’m speeding when I hit the road
