What fans might not realize about teen phenom Midwxst, is that he’s so much more than the angsty lyrics found on BACK IN ACTION 2.0.
Surrounded by hyperpop-inspired melodies and new wave rage production, the 19-year-old Carmel, Indiana native is only getting better with time. Touting an electro-infused symphony of bangers, BIA 2.0 features some of underground’s young talents in Baby Santana, DC The Don, ericdoa, Slump6s, KA$HDAMI and more.
Midwxst has not only asserted himself as one of the most prolific up-and-coming artists of our generation, but continues to showcase his versatility — slowing things down on his first track of 2022 in “all my friends hate me.”
The genre-bending singer-rapper has become the poster boy for versatility in the new wave, and on his fresh-pressed SoundCloud exclusive, Midwxst continues to prove he’s an undeniable force to be reckoned with.
“all my friends hate me” (Jan. 3) features a swooning string melody and a woozy baseline that complements his hypnotically-sung performance. Drawing listeners in with a swelling bass progression, Midwxst is in his element on “all my friends hate me” — somberly discussing his conflicting feelings and actions towards his love interest.
Letting the anxiety overtake his thoughts, Midwxst strives to let his sinking emotions not get the best of him, as the track’s ethereal production rises and falls like a fleeting summer fling.
I’m such a pussy
Think that I’m fine, but [?] no, I’m not
All my friends hate me
And I know that they don’t, but I feel that way around the clock
No, I don’t wanna talk
To you, the least of all
And no one knows when you call (One more time)
I’m on the brink
All of sudden can’t think of a thing to say
My mind, it sinks
I got so many obstacles that I can’t seem to get out my way
I need you gone
