Rich Amiri is WAR READY for whatever comes his way.
On his sophomore album (and first mainstream LP), the Internet Money rapper continues to evolve and progress as he hones his star power over the course of 18 tracks. Perfection was the key to his process, though, revealing that WAR READY was “completely remade almost four times.”
Locking in with IM mainstays Rio Leyva, Synthetic and Taz Taylor, (among other producers like Bhristo, Bugz Ronin, Matt Cohn, sharkboy and more), singles in “KEEP IT COOL” and “COUNT MY BANDZ” as well as one-offs in “OUT MY MIND” and “MADONNA & RIHANNA” preceded the album on Friday (Dec. 5). Impressively, the 20-year-old emcee self-produced and wrote two tracks on the album, “G23” and “U LIKE?”.
Overflowing with energy, Amiri finds pockets on the Waka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash-flipped “COUNT MY BANDZ.” This is one of the many standout moments on the project, recruiting rising underground star OsamaSon for two tracks (“AMIRI TRENDSETTER,” “IM WIT IT”). Other highlights like “DAY AFTER DAY,” “SO EASY” and “TOUCHÉ” display Amiri’s knack for vocal control and ability to weave in-and-out of WAR READY’s sharp, chaotic vibe. Like a sniper perched, Amiri aims with precision—a tactician with deep and distinct flows that seep through the album’s raging, distorted soundscape.
After the RIAA Platinum-certified “ONE CALL” became his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 hit, earning him a placement on 2024’s XXL Freshman list (following albums in EVOLUTION and GHETTO FABULOUS), Amiri continues to become a household name with every new drop he shares.
