It is now relatively commonplace for blockbuster movies to include star-studded soundtracks with original songs specifically for the movie. As of recent, this summer saw “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and “F9: The Fast Saga” do just that. Now, Marvel’s upcoming film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is in the process of putting together their soundtrack, adding its fourth single “In The Dark” by Swae Lee and Jhené Aiko on Aug. 20.
Swae Lee first teased the song on Aug. 17 by posting a picture with Aiko at the film’s red carpet premiere from the night before.
“In The Dark” sees Swae Lee masterfully use his delicate singing voice to glide over the pop instrumental in the song’s first half. His execution of the first two renditions of the hook and one verse set up Jhené perfectly to close the song out with her angelic voice on the second verse and final hook, which the duo shares.
Don’t leave me in the dark (Dark)
I deserve more (More)
I’m somebody’s reward (I’m somebody’s reward, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh)
Don’t leave me in the dark (Dark)
I deserve more (More)
I‘m somebody’s reward (I’m somebody’s reward, woah, oh, oh-oh, oh)
Don’t leave me in the dark (Dark)
I deserve more (More)
I’m somebody’s reward (I’m somebody’s reward, oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh)
