Hotboii continues hot streak with back-to-back singles

Hotboii is still on the upswing of his career, and so far in 2021 he has continually impressed listeners with his melodic, trap-infused vocals.

Over the last two years, he has been a reliable player in the upper echelon of underground artists. Toting strong YNW ties, his most recent appearance on YNW Melly’s “Yung N**** Sh**” saw him flex his vocal range alongside Melly. He also released “Nobody Special” with Future, embodying the player persona that Pluto has perfected over his career.

His discography is filled with features from other buzzing artists. Polo G hopped on “Goat Talk 2” — where a haunting piano fits perfectly with the two rappers’ melodic verses. Lil Baby spiced up the remix for “Don’t Need Time,” a melancholous track about the struggles of success and street origins.

His Aug. 6 release “Oath” has a cinematic instrumental, leading in with a frantic orchestral melody coupled with a choir. When the drums come in, Hotboii commands the beat with a higher register of singing to match the pace of the song. From there, the Florida rapper tears through the rest of the verses, stopping only for a quick hook.

A week after “Oath’s” release, Hotboii doubled down on his recent traction and dropped “One In A Million” Friday (Aug. 13). HotBoii spits a melodic sing-rap hook over hard-hitting, guitar-infused production, as he continues to prove that his blend of styles is one of the most capturing out of YNW.

After dropping two projects last year, it’s unlikely listeners will go the rest of the year without another Hotboii LP. Keep an ear out for his next move.
