When mynameisntjmack hits the mic, every word carries more weight.
The Virginia rapper is keeping tabs on his come-up, bookmarking small wins that are bound to lead to mainstream triumph. Sharing his new mixtape, BOOKMARK 2, Jmack embraces the “chase” towards success—embodying this energy on the project’s final single featuring Tommy Richman as well as throughout the entirety of the 10-track tape.
Jmack and Tommy go way back. The DMV duo have collaborated on tracks such as “Who U Foolin,” “Bunker/Preroll” (which saw a surge on TikTok at the back end of 2024), “Aslongas” and “seems like time moves forever” off Tommy’s stunning debut album, COYOTE. Where Richman experienced his mainstream breakout last summer, Jmack is poised to put on for Virginia in 2025.
Singles like “chase,” “american spirit” and “argue typing” not only led in Jmack’s BOOKMARK 2 era, but proved to be his most potent. The synergy between mynameisntjmack and Tommy is utterly infectious, as J’s raw, deep-toned hook and poignant bars about chasing success—acknowledging that it happens when you least expect it—hypnotizes over hard-hitting, euphoric production that lends to late-night drives and mosh-pits alike. Other highlights like the smoothly-produced “Lemon/Ginger,” the jazzy “02 sonata” and “nonsense” with Trevor Spitta all elicit a feeling over euphoria—with Jmack embodying charisma akin to SABA, Earl Sweatshirt or Larry June.
Following his debut album, mynameisnt, last year, Jmack is focusing on his growth as an artist above all. You can hear it specifically on “chase,” not allowing himself to be complacent in striving for that success he seeks. He’s on go mode now, and it’s prevalent in the music. Versatile, concise and creatively struck with potential, mynameisntjmack is an artist that needs to be (and is heavily deserving of being) on your radar this year.
You can catch mynameisntjmack live in direct support of Tommy Richman on his headlining North American/EU Coyote Tour this Spring. The 27-date worldwide trek kicked off this past month (Feb. 19) and will touch down in Los Angeles, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, and London, among others.
