AG Club drops off-the-wall music video for latest single ‘Kevin’

With each new release, the eccentric LA-based rap group reminds fans why the AG in AG Club stands for “avant garde.”

Just over a month ago, AG Club dropped their third single of the year — following January’s “Mr. Put It On” and May’s “TRU RELIGION.” “Kevin” (released on June 10) continues the electrifying trend of punchy synths, booming 808s and distorted vocals that made them the most delectable group as of late to follow in the footsteps of predecessors like Odd Future, A$AP Mob and BROCKHAMPTON.

On “Kevin,” the two frontmen Jody Fontaine, on the first half, and Baby Boy, on the second half, dominate vocally. Their respective verses, separated by a cathartic hook about how much their hunger for money dictates their attitude, both see them vent about their frustrations with the music business.

Every day a celebration when you gettin’ paid

Long as n****s eatin’, get the f**k out my face (Ayy, shut the fuck up)

I ain’t even mean it, that ain’t what I was tryna say

How you feelin’? I feel great

I feel great (Yeah)

“Kevin” — AG Club

Since the single dropped in June, AG Club returned with the visuals. The “Kevin” music video, released on July 12, is separated into two portions, with the first half dedicated to Jody’s verse and the second to Baby Boy’s.

For Jody’s segment, the claymation-infused visual shows him bringing destruction to a meeting of suit-and-tie wearing executives, using his Lauryn Hill-tattooed hand to do the damage. When Baby Boy comes into frame for “Part Two,” he is seen leading and organizing a resistance movement, likely looking to change the power dynamics of the music industry.

The full message behind “Kevin” immaculately mixes the angst and creativity that AG Club has always possessed, and should excite fans for a future project from the California duo.
