aldrch ascends to new heights on ‘biteback’ with aldn

aldrch is the gift that keeps on giving this year. The do-it-all super producer and singer has been on a rampant run of singles since signing with Epitaph in September, recruiting the likes of Voda Fuji, 8485, and Exit across his first three releases with them.

However, he had one trick left up his sleeve for what could potentially be his final track of the year, recruiting aldn for the high octane banger “biteback.”

An electrifying intro infused with aldrch’s signature glitchy sounds and unparalleled drums lead directly into aldn’s punchy hook, bursting onto the track as he sings, “I wish I could’ve give it back, all of the shit I had / But I know you don’t want that, anymore.”

aldn dives deeper into the mental whirlwind he alluded to with his verse, yearning for someone that is seemingly out of reach. aldrch jumps in for the second verse, his ever-improving vocals popping over a buzzing synth, before aldn’s hook comes back in to close out the track. Speaking on the meaning of the track, aldrch shared, “’biteback’ is a song that explores the relationship that our generation has with love, and the struggle of finding and keeping it in a digital world.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Kahre, features aldrch and aldn singing, dancing, and smoking cigarettes in a warehouse accompanied by a band of Jacob Geoffrey and Christian Cicilia.

aldrch has been rapidly making a name for himself across the last two years, building up through the alt and hyperpop scene predominantly alongside poptropicaslutz!, fueled by their myriad of collaborations.

A debut EP earlier this year in static. saw the NYC native establish himself as an artist once and for all, providing a five track taste of his one-of-a-kind production style, highlighted by “antifreeze*” with Ryan Leahan. Further collaborations with bixby, Roan, Illusion Hills, Picture Us Tiny, Shotgun Willy and more filled out a wildly active year for aldrch, while “gluttony” with Voda Fuji marked one of my personal favorite songs of the year.

Although 2022 has been wildly exciting, it is just the tip of the iceberg for what is to come from aldrch – expect even more to come in the new year.
