Dom Corleo and Veeze are the duo we didn’t know we needed.
Recruiting Detroit’s runaway star on “duh duh duh” (May 17), both emcees brought their distinctive styles together for an unexpected, yet necessary collaboration. Teasing its snippet back in April, the track garnered immense anticipation because of the excitement of Veeze’s presence. Meshing their sounds seamlessly, Dom doubles down on his budding star status with a prolific feature from GANGER himself.
Combining their talents over captivating keys and a quirky instrumental, the two evidently craft a catchy summer anthem on their first-ever collaboration. Corleo flaunts his deep-toned vocals, giving listeners an easy-to-remember chorus (snippet syndrome seems to be at work here). As Dom bobs, Veeze weaves with his raspy, half-awake register and state-of-the-art flow that melts over the beat perfectly. Its music video (dir. by Be El Be) depicts the duo lounging on a couch suspended by vibrant hot air balloons.
Since the release of his debut album, On My Own, the “Wake Up” rapper appears to be in the process of elevating his sound out of underground circles. As Veeze joins him on “duh duh duh,” it’s a clear indication that Dom is gaining bigger looks from industry eyes, especially following singles in “Life I Chose,” “In That Mode,” “DEVOTE/BITE,” “TBT” and “TITANIC.”
Continuing to assert his consistency post “Penthouse Shordy,” Dom Corleo is on pace for greater heights in 2024.
