Jack Harlow’s smash hit ‘WHATS POPPIN’ reaches 1 billion streams

Louisville rapper’s magnum opus achieves stellar milestone.

Jack Harlow released single “WHATS POPPIN” on January 21, 2020. The song’s accompanying music video was directed by Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade.

The song, produced by Pooh Beatz and DaBaby‘s frequent collaborator jetsonmade, contains several sports allusions like “I got options, I could pass that bitch like Stockton” or “I could put the ball in the end zone / put a bad bitch in the friendzone.”

“WHATS POPPIN” would be included on Harlow’s March 2020 EP Sweet Action, containing seven tracks like the groovy “2STYLISH” and playful songs like “I WANNA SEE SOME ASS” and “HEY BIG HEAD.”

The track peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and would receive a remix in June 2020 with Tory Lanez, Lil Wayne and DaBaby. This version helped add even more momentum to the song.

“WHATS POPPIN” is still one of hip-hop’s hottest songs over a year later, and has bolstered Jack Harlow’s career into the mainstream. This is evident in the fact that the original version and remix were included in Harlow’s debut album Thats What They All Say in December.

In April this year, the song achieved 5x RIAA Platinum certification, halfway to the coveted Diamond certification.

Now, Chart Data tweeted that the song had reached 1 billion on-demand streams on Sunday.

This means that cumulatively, the song has been streamed 1 billion times across digital streaming platforms, a major milestone for the still blossoming, 23-year-old rapper.

“WHATS POPPIN” is the first major addition to Jack Harlow’s accolade trophy case for a career that will surely see many more hits.
