Kehlani fans will be happy to hear a new single ahead of Blue Water Road, her upcoming third studio album.
The Bay Area singer croons an ode to those who have passed on “Altar,” a song about both grief and growth. Cinematic visuals accompany the melancholy song as Kehlani’s production quality has only gone up over the years.
“Altar” marks her first solo release of 2021 following collaborations with Amorphous, Pink Sweat$, Kiana Ledé and the legendary T-Pain. Her 2020 album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t garnered features from the likes of Jhené Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye and James Blake.
Following up her previous LP, Kehlani has had an eventful year aside from music. She has spent a year defining her identity as well as working on music with a variety of artists, with Nicki Minaj publicly hitting her up just last week.
Blue Water Road is slated for release this winter, so keep an ear out for more new music as the rollout begins.
