Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang signs LA artist Tanna Leone

Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free’s label pgLang is adding a new member to their roster. The growing label just announced their latest signee, Los Angeles-based artist Tanna Leone.

When Kendrick Lamar initially introduced his label pgLang to the world, many were curious about the new rising talent he would show the world. His first signee and cousin Baby Keem proved to be a smashing success and he’s hoping to strike gold once again with his newest discovery. In a newly released statement, Tanna spoke on the honor it is to gain affiliation with a collective like pgLang.

ā€œWhen pgLang launched, I knew thatā€™s where my home was. Itā€™s an honor to join my brothers on this journey of shaping the future of media and entertainment. ā€¦ As an artist I want to represent disrupting the status quo, push people to focus on their growth as a human, and to be a voice for the voiceless through my artistry.ā€

His recent signee also comes with his and pgLang’s partnership with Def Jam records, as the labelā€™s CEO Tunji Balogun welcomed Tanna and pgLang as ā€œvalued partners.ā€

ā€œWeā€™re excited to welcome Tanna Leone and pgLang to the Def Jam family as valued partners. Iā€™m lucky to have been able to connect with Kendrick and Dave during the early stages of my career as friends and collaborators, and Iā€™m thrilled to be able to extend that relationship here at Def Jam. Tanna is a dynamic and multi-talented new voice and weā€™re honored to be a part of his development and success.ā€

The announcement to the label was accompanied by a short intro video to Tanna, where he answers several questions ranging from his favorite quote to favorite color. Oddly enough, the unseen questionnaire’s voice is modified and the questions are all asked backwards creating an eerie, artistic atmosphere.

Tanna also dropped two new singles and a fresh visual in celebration of his new signing. The video for “With The Villians” features the rapper hanging around ā€œvillains,ā€ strolling through the night before heading to a tattoo parlor. The song itself fits the nocturnal vibe he finds himself in, while the second single “Lucky” gives off a more uptempo and catchier energy. Both show his potential and hint towards the possible sound his future projects may hold.

Leone can be seen on tour alongside his labelmate Baby Keem on The Melodic Blue Tour. Leone has yet to deliver a full project, but with Def Jam and pgLang behind him, his future seems to be brighter than ever.
