Everytime fans feel Lil Nas X may not be able to replicate his previous chart-topping successes, he finds a way to prove everyone wrong.
On Monday (Oct. 18), the Georgia native achieved No. 1 status on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for his July single “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow.

As we all know by now, Lil Nas X’s young career kicked off in 2019 with the explosion of his first-ever single “Old Town Road” and its several subsequent remixes. The song reached No. 1 and lasted there for a whopping 19 weeks. It was also the fastest song to achieve RIAA Diamond certification and is now 15x Platinum, a milestone that has never been reached before.
facetimed jack harlow yesterday morning to tell him industry baby went number 1, he cried, then i crew as well, we both crode. 💕

Lil Nas X’s next number No. 1 would not come until April of this year, with his provocative, stunning “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”
Now, with three No. 1 hits, Lil Nas X has claimed territory that few other hip-hop artists have in history. He has always preached that he is much more than the one-hit wonder fans initially expected him to be, as Montero continues to price doubters wrong with each move.

Not only have his wildly successful singles proved this sentiment, but his debut album MONTERO was a thoughtful, versatile and well-produced project that not only allowed for more hits from Nas X, but showed us his artistic growth since his come-up.
“Industry Baby” is also Jack Harlow’s first No. 1 hit. While he had gotten close before with “Whats Poppin,” which peaked at No. 2, this milestone for Harlow confirms he is much more than just a bubbling viral rapper.
My first number one…

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see this coming while I was writing my verse. This song is something I’m gonna be proud to be a part of for the rest of my life.
