Logic unleashes new single ‘Bleed It’ before album later this month

The track list for Logic‘s upcoming Vinyl Days album is already quite robust. Since May 20 when he put out the album’s title track, he has released a new promotional single every Friday as he promised he would until the June 17 album release date.

On June 4, the rapper/producer/father/author dropped his latest single “Bleed It,” making it the sixth confirmed song for the project. Co-produced by 6ix, who has had his hands on every single song in the rollout up to this point, “Bleed It” samples the Beastie Boys and fully embraces the electronic, record-scratching aesthetic of the early hip-hop days.

With his voice clouded by vocal effects, Logic explains how his childhood trauma motivates him to “bleed it” nowadays.

Back chillin’ with my mom watching Ten Commandments

Got a bottle in her hand and I’m facin’ abandonment

Social services fuckin’ up my vibe

Smile for the worker, but I’m dyin’ on the inside

Haha, haha, everything’s fine

Sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind

When Logic is at his best, he typically delves back into his boom-bap and 80’s-90’s hip-hop inspirations, whether it be through interpolation or samples. With these several new singles, it seems that this is the trend he is committed to on Vinyl Days, as he did with his first album Under Pressure and recent projects like YSIV and No Pressure.

As he continues to conjure up nostalgia, check out Logic’s new single “Bleed It” below!
