R&B star Lucky Daye returns with his second full-length album Candydrip. Primarily produced by D’Mile, the 17-track album clocks in at 58 minutes and include some of Lucky’s smoothest and most danceable tracks yet.
Unlike his first album, the Grammy-nominated singer brings along a few guests to share the spotlight with him. Soul group Chiild links up with him on the slow-paced “Compassion” while Smino hops on to “God Body” for a flawless verse. Even Chicago’s Lil Durk joins Daye on the sure-fire hit “NWA.” The song features stellar vocals from Lucky and a short yet memorable verse from the drill pioneer — meshing together for a song that is destined to be played on a warm summer night.
Candydrip was preceded by the single “Over” back in September. Daye explained that in comparison to his previous LP, this album focuses on flavors while Painted focuses on colors.
“‘Candydrip’ focuses mostly on flavors and the idea of flavors versus Painted, which was about colors. These are a bunch of different flavors of songs, giving you ear candy in different ways.”

In an interview at the Grammys, he went on to explain how the project came to be and how he purposefully wanted to separate himself from the current R&B sound. He also mentions how the collaborations on the album came to be and how he crafts his projects after making nearly 100 songs.
Candydrip is Lucky’s first project since his 2021 EP Table For Two, which is currently nominated for two awards at this year’s Grammys Ceremony in April. Fans can catch one of his shows on his North American tour when it starts on March 18 in Portland, Oregon.
