Roddy Ricch steps away from social media after fans denounce new snippet

Social media has always been a blessing and a curse for artists. On one hand, rappers with little to no industry backing have managed to cultivate massive fan bases through viral moments — on the other, a large social media presence can lead to criticism from fans and haters alike.

Roddy Ricch has seen both ends of the spectrum throughout his career, with the negative aspects showing now. The Compton rapper posted a snippet of an upcoming single titled “Out Of My Mind” on his Instagram with polarizing reactions from fans.

Following the largely negative response to the snippet, Roddy posted a melancholy message on his Instagram story before deleting his accounts on Twitter and Instagram.

Seeing how Roddy’s single “The Box” saw the benefits of social media, it is unfortunate to see him falling victim to online criticism. On the flip side, it is uplifting to see popular hip-hop characters rallying in support of the LA rapper, encouraging him to continue to prosper despite this minor bump in the road.

His album, Live Life Fast, saw appearances from Future, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Jamie Fox, Lil Baby and more. Fans are looking forward to his upcoming project, Feed Tha Streets III, which Roddy announced for a 2022 release in December.

It’s unclear as of right now what his next move will be, considering the suddenness of his exit from social media. Hopefully Roddy is able to take some time for himself and come back stronger than ever.
