The Weeknd is ‘Out Of Time’ in ‘Dawn FM’ visual finale

While the rollout for The Weeknd’s Dawn FM has had its fair share of twists and turns, “Out Of Time” may be the most riveting feature to Abel’s sonic universe.

With swooning synths and ghostly dreamscape vocals, “Out Of Time” details Abel’s willingness to recall a lost love and openly accept his faults — further proving the level of spiritual and artistic vibrance he illuminates all throughout Dawn FM. Sharing the highly-anticipated visual for “Out Of Time” on Tuesday (April 5), The Weeknd wowed once more with the cinematic finale to his beloved fifth studio album.

Previously sharing videos for “Sacrifice,” “Gasoline” and “Take My Breath,” The Weeknd’s latest visual sees him enjoying the life he once had, alongside Squid Game star HoYeon Jung. Frolicking through a desolate hotel, flirting at dinner and singing Karoke with his co-star, Abel gets a rude awakening when his dreams are cut short by the bright light teetering his existence.

Continuing to channel the overall eerie nature of Dawn FM, album narrator Jim Carrey also makes a cameo in the final seconds of the video — portraying a doctor who questionably covers Abel’s face with a plastic mask. Echoing the spoken word on “Out Of Time’s” end transition, Carrey is menacingly comfortable in his short appearance, as The Weeknd depicts another immersive layer to the “new trilogy” he’s conjuring.

In light of “Out Of Time’s” release, Abel has been extremely active on social media as of late. Teasing a possible name change to “ABEL,” much like “YE” or “Madonna,” the generational singer is “still building” the world that After Hours, Dawn FM and his next project will live in.

Amid his recent Simpsons appearance and Best Melodic Rap Performance win at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (April 3), the XO mastermind is also set to kick off his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour on July 8 in Toronto with special guest Doja Cat. Along with his song “Blinding Lights” earning a RIAA Diamond certification, there have also reports that he will replace Kanye West as a Coachella headliner after Ye had unexpectedly pulled out of his two-weekend set Monday (April 4).

As the Dawn FM experience unwinds with fans feeling “free of all trauma, pain, guilt and shame,” Abel now looks forward to the third and final piece of his grotesquely grandiose trilogy.
