A$AP Rocky rolls out new album with lead single ‘Shittin’ Me’

“Are you Shittin’ Me?” A$AP Rocky gifted fans on Friday (Dec. 2) with a brand new single to kick off his album rollout.

The new song, which appears on the official soundtrack to Need For Speed: Unbound, sees the AWGE rapper skate over the bombastic Kelvin Krash-produced cut with finesse. Vocal chops and twangy toy blocks accentuate the track’s thumping 808s (which are perfect for a NFS chase sequence), as Rocky’s quick-witted flow and flex-filled bars drift listeners into a daze.

“Got me feelin’ like ‘Pac and shit (Realest out, motherfucker)

You n***** still poppin’ shit?

Stay to what’s mine, state of my mind I stay to myself, mostly (Woah)

I stay on yo’ mind, I stay in yo’ mouth You stay in denial, mostly (Woah)”

Flacko teased the track back in October alongside the video game’s trailer, taking to Instagram earlier this week to promote “Shittin’ Me” by donning some racing gear. Additionally, Rocky’s new single is his third collaboration with Krash, who produced “Buck Shots” and “Black Tux, White Collar” off the NYC emcee’s last studio album, TESTING (2018).

“Shittin’ Me” also preceded his performance on Amazon Music Live after the NFL-Prime Video Thursday Night Football matchup this week (Dec. 8), where Rocky announced his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, with a multi-song set of unreleased jams.

He cleared his Instagram last week, which further fueled rumors of him unveiling the long-awaited record live on Amazon Music. “Shittin’ Me” is poised to be DBD’s “leading single” off the back of its quick-cut music video — where Rocky recreated his viral mosh-pit photo at Rolling Loud NYC.

On top of appearing on Metro Boomin’s instantly beloved HEROES & VILLAINS, the AWGE emcee divulged that his next album has tons of Metro’s maestro influence in a recent interview. “This next album just needs to be called Flacko Boomin, you hear me?”, he told GQ Magazine at Miami’s Art Basel — igniting more hype for the album’s imminent announcement.

Rocky’s last single “DMB” featured an exclusive appearance from Rihanna, as the pair welcomed their first son together this past May. Amid her upcoming Super Bowl Halftime performance and chart-topping Black Panther tracks, Rih and Rocky have become music’s new power couple — positioning themselves as this generation’s Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

Life’s been anything but Rocky for A$AP lately, with plans to takeover 2023 with Don’t Be Dumb looming closer each day.
