Calvin Harris racks up ‘New Money’ with 21 Savage

Calvin Harris is cashing in with 21 Savage, showing off their riches on Harris’ latest offering “New Money.”

As the second promotional track off his highly-anticipated album Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 2, the acclaimed DJ-producer is looking to turn up the heat once the LP hits streaming on Aug. 5. Following its lead single “Potion” with Dua Lipa and Young Thug, “New Money” is yet another vibrant teaser ahead of the star-studded summer project.

21 Savage slides over Harris’ pristine production, flowing over the shimmering beat with his trademark monotone flow. He raps about some of his lavish luxury items like his countless high-end fashion statements, his chains and jewelry, and of course, his growing car collection. The hook sees Savage flaunting how the money he has isn’t even available to anyone else.

Gucci garments, kush smell like armpits

You domеstic, all I ride is foreign s**t

Sippin’ Hi-Tech and I got a hot TEC

I got nеw money, it ain’t even out yet

Midway through the song, Harris lets an electric guitar shred through the beat. The short instrumental break allows for the DJ’s production skills to truly shine. The wavy, funky solo is a new shot of energy injected into the instantly vibey cut and gives way for 21’s final repeat of the hook.

It’s a colorful transition that Harris pulls off masterfully, though the short length of the song may leave some listeners wanting just one more addition to this already stellar team-up.

“New Money” is 21 Savage’s second high-profile guest spot in under two weeks. His first comes from his chart-topping collaboration with Drake on “Jimmy Cooks.” Harris is still riding the waves of FWB2’s predecessor — making sure the smoothest grooves are slated for summer’s end.

With more creative collaborations planned over his vibrant production, fans are itching for more summertime vibes once Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 2 drops next month.
